Happy  New Year.

This year we are going to start documenting out move to become more self sufficient and to be able to grow more of our own food and products. So we are inviting you to join our journey. There is going to be some trail and error and problem a lot of errors but it is all a learning experience.

So a little about us. We are a family of 4 we have 2 children, 1 dog, 2 fish and a frog. So we have a full house. Our children love being away from a neighborhood. We live about 15 to 30 minute drive from town, so we live far enough out but not to.  We moved here in April of 2014, we wanted to get away from the neighborhood that we lived in and we also wanted to have a little more than a lot for our property. So we traded our larger home with lots of storage but a small yard, to a smaller home with less storage but we have a larger lot. We have almost an acre of property that we can do what we want to with.

We have lots of rain here in the south. We live in Georgia and the last few years we have had months where it rained and rained.  Well for the last week of 2015 and the first few days of 2016 it rained. Well, with all that rain, we found out how much of yard floods. So we have to figure out a way to keep build up our yard without bringing up a bunch of dirt. We think we have figured out a way to do it, so stay tuned to our blog to see how we come up. I am posting photos of our yard flooded. since it flooded where we planned on putting in our garden beds and had started putting in beds.

So join us on our journey this year to see how we slowly improve our home, garden and much more.
